Dumbarton January Scholastic Chess Tournament

In Five Sections:

Contenders: K-12 >1199, 4SS, G/65; Players in this section will earn Maryland Sweet 16 Scholastic Rally points. See this web page for the details of how rally points are awarded. Trophies to top 5
Future Contenders: K-12 <1300 & >800 (or unrated HS players), 4SS, G/65; Trophies to top 7
Middle/High School Reserve: 6-12 U900, 5SS, G/40; Trophies to top 7

Elementary Reserve:
 K-5 U900, 5SS, G/40; Trophies to top 7
Novice: K-5 U500 4SS, G/30. Trophies to top 10


If requested, players may be allowed to use MSA ratings to allow entry into top two sections.
 

Trophies to top High School, Middle School, and Elementary School teams. Team score is sum of top four players from the same school. For calculating the team score, 4 is added to the scores of players in the contenders section, 3 to scores of players in the future contenders section, and 1 to the scores of players in the reserve section.

Sets and boards will be provided. Players should bring a clock.

US Chess Federation membership is required. New USCF members should join the USCF at http://www.uschess.org/ before registering to get an ID number. At-the-door USCF memberships are $5 more.

Entrance Fees: $15 if received by 12/23 (online or mailed), $20 if received by 1/6 (online or mailed), and $25 online by 7pm on 1/09,

$5 rebate to new players joining the USCF with pre-registration or in January. 
 

 No at-the-door registrations!

 Rounds: 1st round start times are Contenders - 9:20, Future Contenders - 9:30, Reserves - 9:40, Novice - 10:30. Top two sections will all finish around 6:00. Reserve will finish around 5. Novice finishes around 2:30. Note that pairings will be made Friday night, so players should be ready to play at their 1st round start time.

Food will be available for purchase at the site.
